Cecily Greenaway and Bea Phear took first place at the Thursday, March 1, Island Bridge Club (IBC) competition. Tied for second place were the teams of Don Nelson/ Nancy Cabot and Carol Whitmarsh/Dotti Arnold.
Six and a half tables were in play — a remarkably large number of bridge fans during the usually quiet Island winter months. Lesley Segal is a new face at the bridge table, Art Spielvogel is back at the competition after a lengthy illness, and Don Nelson is a player rarely seen after the summer season ends.
The ACBL-sanctioned Island Bridge Club duplicate competition is held Thursday evenings at 7 pm at the Up-Island Council on Aging Howes House in West Tisbury. Players needing a partner are urged to telephone 508-693-3758 by noon on Wednesday for assistance. The cost is $5 per session.
