Bring your beads and dancing shoes tomorrow evening to Hooked MV, an Island fish house, the new restaurant on Beach Road in Oak Bluffs in the former Lola’s location.

Hooked will celebrate its grand opening beginning at 8:30 pm. There will be passed hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. DJ Di and DJ Rockwell will be there and at 10 pm, the band King Cake and the Baby will take the stage.

Hooked is the latest venture of Greer and Chef Christian Thornton of Atria, an Edgartown restaurant. They plan a casual fish house featuring locally caught fresh fish, an oyster bar, and fish house favorites.

The band King Cake and the Baby features veteran Vineyard musicians Shelagh Hackett on vocals; Eric Johnson on guitar, bass, and vocals; Boaz Kirschenbaum on guitar, bass, and vocals; Adam Lipsky on keyboards; and Rob Myers on drums. Half of the band comes from The Daytrippers, the Island Beatles tribute band.

Kirschenbaum, Myers, and Johnson played a Fat Tuesday gig at Offshore Ale back in February. They had such a good time playing New Orleans tunes that Mr. Johnson said, “I decided it was time to put a band together that focuses on New Orleans music. The music has great vocal harmonies and plenty of opportunities to improvise.”

In addition to music from or inspired by New Orleans, King Cake will play the roots funk of The Meters to the classic sounds of Little Feat, Dr. John, Robert Palmer, and Bonnie Raitt.

Grand Opening Party, Friday, May 25, 8:30 pm, Hooked, Oak Bluffs (formerly Lola’s). Live music by DJ Di, DJ Rockwell, and King Cake and the Baby. 508-693-6093.
