Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club results


Michael and Sandy Lindheimer, with a 62.8 percent score, took first place honors overall at the Thursday, June 21, Island Bridge Club (IBC) gathering. Also playing north-south, Barbara Besse and Miles Jaffe came in second, Gail Farrish and Patsy McCornack finished third and Ken Judson and Cece Dobbs were in fourth place.

Among the teams playing east-west, Joe Ashcroft and Mollie Whalen were the high scorers (61.38 percent average), with the John O’Keefe/Ency Fokos team in second place. Pam and Rich Peia were in third and Susan and Wally Epstein took fourth place.

Nine tables were in play.

Earlier in the week, the team of Jim Kaplan and Miles Jaffe were the first-place finishers (62.8 percent average) during the MV Bridge Club (MVBC) gathering Tuesday night.

Sari Lipkin and Carol Whitmarsh took second place, the David Donald/Michel Riel team was in third, and Sandy Lindheimer and Barbara Besse finished fourth. Eleven tables were in play.

Both the MVBC and the IBC duplicate competitions are sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).

The MVBC games are held on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm at the Stone Church in Vineyard Haven. Admission is $4. Contact Sue at 508-693-9396 or for assistance in finding an available partner.

The ICB game is held Thursday evenings at 7 pm at the Up-Island Council on Aging Howes House in West Tisbury. Players needing a partner are urged to contact Susan at 508-696-1835 or by noon on Wednesday for assistance. The cost is $5 per session.
