Lots of duplicate bridge is being played by lots of duplicate bridge fans this summer on Martha’s Vineyard.
At the Thursday, July 26, Island Bridge Club (IBC) game 34 players were on hand. Joan Perrine and Claudia Bowser, playing north/south, took first place overall honors for the evening (59.52 percent average). Also playing north/south, Don Nelson and Lou Winkelman came in second. Barbara Silk and John O’Keefe took third place.
Playing east/west Robert and Ency Fokos took first place, Nancy and Dan Cabot came in second, and Foster Greene and Anita Persson were the third place finishers.
On Saturday morning, July 28, at the Bridge Club of MV (BCMV) game, nine tables were in play and Don Nelson and Charlie Harff came in first overall (66.17 percent average). Also playing north/south Cece Dobbs and Iris Capobianco took second place and Cheryl Neal and Gail Farrish were third-place finishers.
Across the tables, playing east/west, Eleanor Hughes and Francis Finney took first place, Agnes and Phillip Burch took second and Hester Boxill and Martha Cameron took third place.
At the Tuesday, July 24, MV Bridge Club (MVBC) game, 48 challengers were on hand. Barbara McLagan and Rich Alpert took first place overall (68.18 percent average). Also playing east/west, Marianne Goldsmith and Anita Persson came in second, and John O’Keefe and Richard Williams took third.
North/south contenders saw Michel Riel and David Donald take first place. Barbara Besse and Sandy Lindheimer took second and Cecily Greenaway and Bill Blakesley were third-place finishers.
