Jessica Felix’s jazz jewelry is at Ledesma

A Jewelry Trunk Show comes to the Washington Ledesma Gallery in Oak Bluffs with an opening on Friday, August 10, from 5 to 8 pm. Jessica Felix, who organized and produced the Healdsburg Jazz Festival in California, is bringing her jazz jewelry to the Island, on view all day Saturday, August 11, and Sunday, August 12. Eisenhauer opens Bennett & Brosseau

Artist Carol Bennett opens at Edgartown’s Eisenhauer Gallery with realist paintings of swimmers. David Brown creates Zen of Stone

David Brown is constructing his rock sculptures on the Oak Bluffs campus of Featherstone Center for the Arts daily this week from noon to 4 pm. Debra Gaines demonstrates encaustics

Encaustic artists melt beeswax and add pigment to create art. Debra Gaines will demonstrate this ancient art on Monday, August 13, at 6 pm at the Louisa Gould Gallery in Vineyard Haven. Old Sculpin schedules four events

“Vineyard Magic” is the title of Ned Reade’s show at Edgartown’s Old Sculpin Gallery, opening August 11. Mr. Reade chairs the art department at Trinity-Pawling School. Also on display at Old Sculpin is the gallery’s annual Small Works Benefit show, from August 11 to August 17, in which members of the nonprofit Martha’s Vineyard Art Association (MVAA), the Island’s oldest art association, donate their work to benefit the organization. An artist’s reception will take place on Sunday, August 12, from 5 to 7 pm.

On Thursday, August 9, Art Students League instructor Wendy Shalen will discuss her new environmental artwork, titled Washed Ashore. JAWS art goes to the Paul McPhee Gallery

Marine and sports fish artist Paul McPhee will display his work at the Paul McPhee Gallery in Oak Bluffs as part of the Oak Bluffs Sharks Arts and Conservation event at JAWSFest, opening on Friday, August 10. This event is co-sponsored by Featherstone Center for the Arts.

An Island resident, Mr. McPhee was licensed by Universal Studios in 2005 to create art promoting the 30th anniversary DVD release of the film and JAWSFest Martha’s Vineyard on August 9-12. For details, go to
