Race for the Moores

On January 1, kick off the New Year with a 5K run and walk around Oak Bluffs. The race starts at 11 am in front of the M.V. Chowder Company. All proceeds go to the family of Jim Moore, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2008, and is currently undergoing treatment. The entry fee is $20 in advance, $25 day of race; $5 for children under 12. Contact 508-627-8303 or email roadraces@yahoo.com.

Winter goods

The last of the bi-weekly Winter Farmers Markets is this Saturday, Dec. 29. Enjoy live music, hot food for sale, and a fire while you shop local, Island made goods, and produce at the Ag Hall in West Tisbury, from 10 am to 1 pm. For more information, visit thewesttisburyfarmersmarket.com.

For the kids

If you have children who are looking for something to do during school break, the YMCA of M.V. provides a school break camp on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27 and 28.
