Model boat show
The Woods Hole Historical Museum will host its ninth biennial Woods Hole Model Boat Show on Saturday and Sunday, April 13–14. About 100 model builders will display their crafts at multiple locations throughout Woods Hole along with two full days of on-the-water sailing and racing. This year’s show also includes a special exhibit of U.S. Coast Guard vessels. Admission is $12; $5 ages 6-16; free for children under 6; $25 family; $9 student/military. Vineyard Gardens nursery in West Tisbury recently began its weekly lecture and demonstration series. This Saturday at 11 am, learn the secrets to successful vegetable gardening. Lost birds
Rhode Island PBS and the Friends of the Chilmark Public Library present the documentary “The Lost Bird Project,” about the stories of five birds driven to extinction in modern times and sculptor Todd McGrain’s project to memorialize them. Felix Neck Director Suzan Bellincampi will also talk about the Heath Hen and the status of threatened Island birds. The event is Wednesday, April 17, at 5 pm at the Chilmark Library.
