Island Theatre Workshop announced recently that it will present “The Wizard of Oz” as its late-summer production this year. Initial auditions will be held in the next week. It will be a full-scale, community musical production held at the Performing Arts Center at the M.V. Regional High School, according to the press release.

The schedule for auditions is as follows: On Friday, May 10, from 6 to 9 pm, auditions for Dorothy will take place; May 11, 7–9 pm, Dorothy and witches; May 12, 1–3 pm and 4–7 pm, all male principals; May 14, 6–9 pm, witches; and May 15, 6–9 pm, all male principals.

The new film “Star Trek: Into Darkness” is coming to the theaters on May 16 and Entertainment Cinemas in Edgartown has scheduled a 12 midnight showing that Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, in 3-D.
