Spirituals play Saturday
The Vineyard Spirituals Choir performs this Saturday, June 1, in a fundraising concert at the Katharine Cornell Theatre. The concert, a benefit for the One Fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, features the U.S. Slave Song Project and Spirituals Choir led by Jim Thomas singing a variety of musical styles.
Joining them are other local musicians such as Peter Boak, the Scottish Society Singers, Vintage Voices, as well as those from off-Island such as the intergenerational musicians from First Parish of Arlington including Boston Symphony Orchestra baritone soloist Michael Prichard. The Vineyard Spirituals will also play Wednesday, June 5, at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven, before the 7:30 pm showing of “Cabin in the Sky.” Visit mvfilmsociety.com for more information.
Dance party at Mytoi
If you take a stroll through Chappaquiddick’s Mytoi Garden on Saturday between 2 and 4 pm, you’ll be entertained by dancers from The Yard during a Site Specific Dance Performance, in collaboration with The Trustees of Reservations. Enjoy the complimentary pop-up performances, as well as refreshments. A van pick-up and drop-off service is available from the Chappy Ferry if you pre-register by calling 508-693-7662.
Open auditions
Island Theatre Workshop is holding open auditions for adult supporting cast and chorus members for its August production of “The Wizard of Oz,” a live musical adaptation of the 1939 film.
