Island astrologer Arlan Wise shares her astrological forecasts with us each week on Mondays. This column is like a cosmic weather report. It is written for everyone based on the sign the moon is in that day and what the planets are doing. Don’t be confused by the signs. This is not like the usual Sun sign astrology columns you see. February, 2014

There is a very small window – February 1-5  – when you can get things done. Venus was retrograde in January and just as you begin to adapt to her being in forward motion, Mercury turns retrograde on February 6. He remains in backwards motion all month and turns direct on February 28, but then Mars goes retrograde on March 1 and Saturn goes retrograde on March 2.  These first few days in February are to be treasured as a time when you can move in a straight line and the things you do will stay done. Don’t fritter away this time.

Mercury turns retrograde at 3 degrees of Pisces and backs up to 18 degrees of Aquarius. Because he moves through two signs, he gives you a double dose of matters to review. The area in your chart that holds those degrees shows you where to expect reversals and what you need to work on.

The nodes of the moon change signs from Scorpio/Taurus to Libra/Aries on February 19. They are on an 18-year cycle so it will be helpful to think back to 1996-1997 so see what kind of events they will bring into your life. The major theme for everyone will be being in partnership vs. being on your own.

Monday, February 3 – Moon in Aries. Face any challenges and get the month’s work done, or at least started. It’s a day for forward motion and strong action. Be brave and work through any fears or hesitations that are holding you back. Work alone and at your own pace; you don’t have the patience to waste time waiting for anyone to catch up to you.

Tuesday, February 4 – Moon in Aries, VC 6:14 pm. This is the last good day of the month to start your projects. Take your ideas and put them into action. Move toward the new and innovative, not the old and tried. If you have to confront someone about something, do it today. You have a lot of energy and want to direct it into achievement, not let it back up in anger.

Wednesday, February 5 – Moon in Taurus. Shop today. Find the good deals and the bargains. Stock up on what you need for the month. Your ability to make good decisions is the best it will be for the next three weeks. Take care of your body. You can heal last month’s health problems through understanding the mind/body connection. Take a yoga class or get a massage.

Thursday, February 6 – Moon in Taurus. Mercury turns retrograde at 4:43 pm. He is standing still all day and so can’t deliver your messages. Use the day to slow down and prepare for the month. Get into the habit of double-checking all that you write, send, and mail. Listen carefully to what people say and be aware that they will misspeak. Treat yourself to a yummy, forget-the diet type of dinner tonight.

Friday, February 7 – Moon VC Taurus, enters Gemini 1:44 pm. Use the morning for tidying, sorting, cleaning, and recycling. Things will get more confusing in the afternoon as you realize that nothing is going as planned. Hang on to your patience as you misplace your car keys and phone and can’t find that letter you need to get into the mail. Don’t try to do anything that needs long-term concentration.

Saturday, February 8 – Moon in Gemini. It helps to practice breathing exercises so that you stay calm when things around you become jangled. Stay busy and get a lot of small errands done. Browse the libraries and bookstores. Sort through that pile of magazines and journals on your desk and read or discard them. Get together with friends and play word games and puzzles and a few old-fashioned card games.

Sunday, February 9 – Moon in Gemini, VC 4:08 pm. It’s a day to think without doing. Enjoy the power of pure thought and let your mind wander where it will. Jot down the thoughts you think that you know you will want to remember later on. Hang out with friends and indulge in conversations. Read that book sitting on your shelf that’s been tempting you.
