Members of the Martha’s Vineyard track and field teams competed Saturday at the MIAA State Division 4 Meet, held at Durfee High School in Fall River.

Jeremy Alley-Tarter placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.70 to qualify for the All State Meet June 7 at Bridgewater State University. The 800 was hotly contested with the top three runners finishing less than a second apart.

Freshman Olivia Smith medaled (top eight finish) in three events, placing sixth in the 400-meter low hurdles (69.66), seventh in the 100-meter high hurdles (16.31), and seventh in the high jump (5’). Olivia tied with four other girls in the high jump but finished seventh due to having more misses before the successful jump.

Andrew Jacobs-Walsh also had a strong showing at the division meet, qualifying for the final round in the discus by placing ninth with a personal best throw of 124’. “It was a great day in the disc for him,” Coach Joe Schroeder said.

The girls 4 x 100 relay team of freshmen Julia Hart, Juniper Ezanno, and Madison Moreis, along with senior Mariah Campbell, posted a season best time of 54.62.

Coach Schroeder said of his fabulous frosh, “It was good to see them there and doing well. The future is very bright.”
