Theodore Zuk Penn, of Charlestown, Rhode Island, who lived his whole life with enthusiasm, courage, and grace despite the challenges associated with a major stroke he suffered in 1999, died at home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 27. He was 74.
A resident of Oak Bluffs for 16 years, Ted was born and raised in Washington, D. C., where he mainly worked on hot rods until he attended college and received two master’s degrees. His life’s work spanned research in historical technology, two museum directorships, and web-site design. He enjoyed all manner of things such as building stone walls, playing guitar, body surfing at Gay Head and working hard all of his life. His kindness, sense of humor, faith, and fortitude touched many.
He is survived by Nancy, his wife of more than 50 years; his son, Trevor; daughter, Jessica; grandson, Taylor Theodore; sister, Lynne; brothers Mark and Tony; cousin Margaret and beloved nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
