Poet’s Corner: Morning jewels

Cold morning,

Snow-covered ground.

Sun rising slowly in a low winter arc,

Banishing gray predawn.

Then brilliance: the scene sparkles with jewels

Strewn casually, in great abundance,

More perfect gems than an empress ever saw.
