The Steamship Authority announced on Thursday afternoon that repairs to the M/V Island Home’s ship’s service generator have been completed, ahead of schedule.

The vessel had been taken out of service for several trips on Tuesday. On Wednesday, The Authority stated on Wednesday that repairs could keep the boat out of operation until Saturday.

“The ship’s service generator developed a leak of the cooling system,” said Bob Davis, SSA treasurer, in a phone interview with The Times Wednesday afternoon.

The M/V Island Home will resume its normal operating schedule Thursday at 6:15pm, departing Woods Hole for Vineyard Haven.
