Susan B. (Wiener) Meyer, of Lancaster and Martha’s Vineyard, formerly of Framingham, died peacefully on July 25, 2015, with Lester Meyer, her loving husband of 46 years, by her side. She was 68, and died at UMass Medical Center Hospital in Worcester.
Susan lost her battle with a very quick and aggressive form of central nervous system lymphoma, but she never lost her beautiful smile. Susan was a friend to so many here on Martha’s Vineyard, not only because she spent her entire life living between the mainland and Martha’s Vineyard, but also because she made it a point to remember each person she met, and she would go out of her way to say hello.
As president of the Boston Children’s Hospital League, and later in her work with special needs middle school students, Susan’s endless energy was infectious. On the Vineyard, she could be seen weekly at Featherstone Flea Market, the Artisans Fair, the Farmers Market, and for years, behind her and her dear friend’s own booth, “The Susans,” at the Chilmark Flea Market. A stranger to no one, Susan’s Vineyard family and friends meant the world to her, and when asked, she called the Vineyard “home.”
Susan was the beloved mother of Eric and Margo Meyer, Emily and Patrick Connor, and Alex Meyer. She was the adored “Grammi” of Brody and Baylie Meyer, and the dear sister of Nancy Perlmutter. Appropriately, Susan was laid to rest in Oak Bluffs. Martha’s Vineyard was her happiest place on earth.
