On Martha’s Vineyard and across the country, Americans found many ways to welcome 2016.
On New Year’s Day, Nainoa Cooperrider of West Tisbury, John Moffet of Edgartown, and Noah Hoyt of Oak Bluffs jumped into Edgartown harbor in memory of John A. Wesley Jr., “Wes,” of Edgartown, who died on June 12, 2015 at the age of 44.
In the past, Wes most often joined his friend John Moffet for the New Year’s Day plunge. The water temperature was about 48 degrees on Friday, about right for a quick dip and a sincere remembrance of a friend lost in 2015.
