Edgartown’s Newes From America Pub is closed temporarily closed to accommodate renovations. Built in 1742, the Newes’ location at the Kelley House is one of the oldest buildings on Martha’s Vineyard. “As it approaches its 275th birthday, ongoing maintenance takes a high priority,” Patrick Cabido, general manager of the Kelley House, said. “In this instance, we need to close the restaurant to accommodate plumbing repairs. Given the special care with which work is undertaken in such an historic structure, we are currently evaluating the exact timeframe needed. We anticipate reopening later this month.”
