The Martha’s Vineyard Skate Park held its annual Skate Jam on Sunday, and bid farewell to the park’s old look. The M.V. Skate Park Association received a grant from MVYouth in March, which will be used toward completing the park’s original design, conceived in 2002, as well as an expansion. The project, expected to start in October of this year, will replace temporary wooden structures (removed in 2015) with permanent concrete structures, and add lighting, webcam technology, landscaping, and signage. Visitors to Sunday’s Skate Jam enjoyed a skate safety clinic with free helmets, as well as music, food, and skate demos from top Island skaters.
