All
breaks open
in one moment of
gentleness or beauty.
Even though
sorrow seems solid
fear feels frozen
and
degradation deepens daily.
Even though
what we are watching unfold
before our eyes …
this hardening shell of
greed
and corruption,
unfettered by morality,
impervious to outrage,
is unwatchable …
Even though
all breaks open
in one moment of
gentleness or beauty.
