Update 5:30 pm
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from Wednesday, April 4, 2:00 p.m. until Thursday, April 5, 4:00 a.m.
The Steamship Authority has suspended all of today’s remaining ferry service for Nantucket and all high-speed service for Martha’s Vineyard due to high winds and rough seas. All other ferry service for Martha’s Vineyard will operate on a trip by trip basis this afternoon and evening.
Because the M/V Island Home and the M/V Woods Hole have not yet returned to service, we have been unable to carry the number of vehicles that we expected to be able to carry when we accepted vehicles reservations earlier this year for Thursday. As a result, we have had to change dozens of vehicle reservations to other trips on Thursday where space was still available. At this time we are planning to keep the standby lines at both the Vineyard Haven and Woods Hole terminals open Thursday. Reservations are available for trips in both directions. Customers can check the status of their vehicle reservations, modify an existing reservations or make a new reservations by going on line, at www.SteamshipAuthority.com, or by calling our Reservation Office at 508-477-8600 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The M/V Whaling City Express, which we are chartering from SeaStreak, will also provide high-speed passenger ferry service between Vineyard Haven and Woods Hole on an hourly basis through Friday.
