The town of Chilmark applied a finishing touch to the Squibnocket Beach Project recently with the installation of a locust post and polyethylene rope railing along the edge of the new retaining wall built by Alan Hartmann, Peter Keene, and Gary Stead. Chilmark conservation commission administrator Chuck Hodgkinson said synthetic rope was chosen for its durability, though it’s designed to look like natural fiber rope. Mitch and Nat Posen from the Allen Farm installed the railing for the town, Hodgkinson said.
