The Steamship Authority board will convene for a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 17, at 3:45 pm in the Falmouth High School auditorium. The sole topic will be review and discussion of the $217,976 HMS Consulting report. A dedicated Steamship Authority bus will be ready for Vineyarders disembarking from the 2:30 ferry that day, and will drive them to the high school. Return buses to Woods Hole will be on standby at the high school. HMS Consultant president John Sainsbury is expected to report his findings directly to the board at the meeting. “The report does not include a review of the Authority’s public communications,” according to a release. “HMS plans to issue a supplemental report covering that item.”

Asked why Falmouth was picked for the venue, Sean Driscoll, a spokesman for the SSA wrote, “The report covers the entirety of the SSA’s operations, so we picked a location that would provide the greatest access to all of our port communities.”

The SSA plans to hold subsequent meetings in January on both Islands, he wrote.
