Dorothy Louise Bolster, 86, died March 16, 2019, at the Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I.
She was born June 4, 1932, in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of John L. and Mary Stone. She attended Classical High School in Springfield and Keuka College in Keuka, N.Y. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Needham public schools, and for many years as a reading specialist in Medfield and the Rivers School in Weston.
She spent her childhood and early adult years summering on Trinity Park in Oak Bluffs. She met her first husband, the late Charles Rockwood, at the beach, and enjoyed her time with family and friends at the East Chop Beach Club and playing tennis at the East Chop Tennis Club.
Dottie retired on the Vineyard, and spent many years on East Chop before moving off-Island and remarrying an old friend, Donald Bolster.
Dottie and Don loved to travel, and visited Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, and Alaska. She was an avid reader, land loved to knit and solve crossword puzzles.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Donald Bolster of Warren, R.I.; her children, Virginia Rockwood of Leyden, Steven Rockwood of Laconia, N.H., and Jennifer McClure and her husband, Dale, of Chatham, N.H.; stepchildren Davidson Bolster of Warren, R.I., Jay and Susan Bolster of Portland, Maine; five grandsons, and one granddaughter. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles R. Rockwood, and stepson Gilbert Bolster.
