Veterans Day Commemoration
By Linda Zeltzer

The commemoration I speak of
is life and war as well
our men and women
who fight the wars
return or not
from hell.

Their sacrifice of life
or limb or sight or sound as well
our men and women who fight the wars
return or not
from hell.

One day each year
we honor them
our leaders stage parades
they wave the flag
and praise the graves
while sending more to war.

This marathon I speak of
is endless death as well
while men and women
boys and girls
return unseen
from hell.
