After Jan. 6 you may have noticed a large peace sign was affixed to the outside garden fence at the home of the Larsen’s at Beetlebung Corner. A welcome light with a necessary message of hope. A light that caused me to pull over feeling a wave of connectedness, sorrow, and much-needed hope. I officially decided to wait until Jan. 20 to celebrate New Year’s 2021 and was glad to do so. Since Inauguration Day the Bernie Sanders meme that has infiltrated images across the country, time, history, and the world also made its way across Martha’s Vineyard. In Chilmark I’ve seen Bernie at Lucy Vincent Beach and the BLM Beetlebung Corner vigil.
Congratulations to Petty Officer Colleen Wilson who re-enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and is in training to be a heavy weather coxswain.
