In O.B. two major accidents in two days

Oak Bluffs fire and EMS responded to the intersection of County Road and Eastville Avenue for a two-vehicle crash involving nine occupants, six of whom were in one vehicle. The call came in at 6:53 pm Sunday, according to Oak Bluffs Fire Chief Nelson Wirtz. Five people were transported to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital with non life threatening injuries, Chief Wirtz said. Extraction equipment wasn’t necessary, he said. Some folks were already out on their feet when first responders arrived, he said.

On Monday, just before noon, Oak Bluffs fire and EMS responded to a single-vehicle crash in the woods off Barnes Road between Featherstone Center for the Arts and the roundabout. The vehicle took out six concrete stanchions, Chief Wirtz said. The motorist, who was the sole occupant, was injured.

Oak Bluffs Police couldn’t immediately be reached to provide further details.
