Once again. Once again. I write this on the morning after we lost yet another of our beloved young. Waylon Sauer, 17 years old. Just beginning. A junior at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. Handsome for his whole life. Kind for his whole life. He was the beloved eldest (the very best of big brothers) of four children, leaving behind his younger brother and two little sisters. His mama, Noni (Wenonah) Madison, Aquinnah tax collector, and community spirit. His dad, Dan Sauer, chef extraordinaire. His grandfather, Jeffrey Madison, town administrator for Aquinnah. This family — this community — are bowed in heartbreak. We will do our best to hold them. We will all do our best to explain the unexplainable to our youngsters. Once again we will gather in disbelief. There is nothing more to say …
… except love each other.
