My computer died last week — at least, I thought it did. My daughter and my son were bicycling across New York State when the computer quit. After I signed in, the screen just went black. But I have accidentally done things to it before. I called my son after he got home on Sunday, but this time when I spoke to him, his reaction was a very low and doubtful “OH.” But he did make it work again. He really is a wonderful son, and an amazing computer fixer.

The Fabulists offer theater for children on Saturday, August 9, at 10 am at the Tisbury Amphitheater at Tashmoo Overlook, featuring “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on a Saturday morning. Tickets at the M.V. Playhouse or at the event.

The M.V. Chamber Music Society offers a free program with limited seating of the Black Oak Ensemble at the West Tisbury Church at 4 pm this Sunday, August 10, premiering a previously unknown Mozart piece discovered only last year in a German library! Enjoy an evening on Tuesday, August 12, at 6 pm, at the Katharine Cornell Theater with local author Nicole Galland to hear about her historical novel “Boy,” set in William Shakespeare’s theater company in Elizabethan England. Nicole is a graduate of our local schools, and author of seven historical novels. Her contemporary work includes “On the Same Page,” about two newspapers on Martha’s Vineyard. With Chelsea McCarthy, she co-created the popular off-season “Shakespeare for the Masses” series, and also directs plays off-Island
