Starting as a DIY project playing rowdy dive bars by the ocean, the band Crooked Coast has grown into one of New England’s most talked-about independent bands. On Saturday, Oct. 11, they will bring that energy to the Loft for a headlining electric set with local favorite DJ Filipe, kicking off the night and then keeping the afterparty going spinning Brazilian dance music.

Since their early days, Crooked Coast have pulled from every corner of their record collections — punk urgency, reggae grooves, hip-hop swagger, and pop’s sense of hook and melody. Their 2022 album Picture This, mixed by Courtney Ballard, broke them into festival bills like Boston Calling, Reggae Rise Up, and Beach Road Weekend. For this year’s release, Nothing Before & Nothing After, they collaborated with heavyweight producers like Gary Cioffi (Grayscale), Anthony Saffery (Portugal. The Man), and Charlie Scene (Hollywood Undead).

“We love the Vineyard,” said vocalist and guitar player Luke Vose. “We’ve been coming over here for a minute now, and have had the pleasure of playing everywhere from the Dock Dance to Beach Road Weekend. There’s such a great music community over here. We’re looking forward to DJ Filipe joining us, and connecting with the Brazilian music scene too. It’s gonna be a party.”
