Virgil Wayne Cameron Cray Sr. of Martha’s Vineyard never met a stranger. His ability to strike up a conversation in any situation was welcoming and heartwarming. Virgil was a kindhearted man who would do just about anything to make anyone smile and laugh. His love for dancing, music, and singing any tune you threw at him was truly magical. Virgil had a way about him that would make anyone he was with feel safe and loved. He just knew how to have a great time — you couldn’t have a bad day with Virg. He was a bright light that shone love and laughter into any space he entered. To know Virg was to be blessed. He will be truly missed.
Virgil was predeceased by many family members, but most notably his wonderful mother, Clare Benner Sullivan, whom he loved more than anything. Virgil is survived by his children, Virgil Jr., Lewis, and Jenae; his grandchildren, who were his whole world; and his brothers, Jason, Frank, Lewis, Doug, and Mike. He had many nieces and nephews, as well as other beloved friends and family who will miss him greatly.
