Albert Alexander passed away peacefully on Dec. 14, 2025.
He was born in 1929 in New Haven, Conn., to loving parents Angelo and Rose Colatosti. Al was an All-State defenseman in hockey, and received a scholarship to play at Springfield College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and went on to earn his doctorate in education and become a teacher and school principal. Al was a lifelong athlete who loved to ski, play hockey, swim, play tennis, and golf. If he wasn’t on the court, he was probably thinking about the next time he would be.
Al was a loving and steady father and husband –– the kind that showed up, stayed calm, and fixed what needed fixing. He valued hard work and education. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy who exhibited an impressive lack of drama. He lived nearly a century, and lived it well, with love, loyalty, good routines, and a quiet sense of humor that stayed with him to the end. He was the best father anyone could hope to have, and left behind a family grateful for every quiet, dependable year.
Al was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Gloria Alexander. He is survived by his two sons, Rob and Todd; their wives, Amelia and Kara; and his three grandchildren, Justin, Sofia, and Sebastian; plus his devoted and loving partner Caroline, with whom he shared many wonderful years.
