Howard W. Leonard Jr. (“Howie”), 74, of Palmyra, Pa., passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, March 22, 2026. He was born in Oak Bluffs to Howard W. Leonard Sr. and Marjorie (Jackman) Leonard. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Helen (Tam) Leonard.

Howie was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and went on to be a CPA and partner of an accounting firm in Keene, N.H. After moving to Pennsylvania, he worked for a CPA firm in Hershey, Pa., for several years. He volunteered for many community organizations, especially in the New Hampshire area.

Howie enjoyed running, so much so that he ran approximately 60,000 miles before he was 71 years old. He also was a semiprofessional clown who enjoyed entertaining children. More than anything, he enjoyed coaching children, and being there for his kids’ and grandkids’ activities.

Howie is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Helen (Tam) Leonard; his children, William, and Kem (and husband David); four grandsons; two brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 11 am at Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Bluffs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Howie’s memory to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to any organization dedicated to the research of ALS, or to any charity of choice.
