We will celebrate the amazing life of Roy Scheffer on May 2 at the M.V. Agricultural Hall at 2 pm. Please join Roy’s family and friends as we all try to absorb the loss of Roy and Tricia Bergeron this year. There will be a raw bar and BBQ; bring dessert if you like.
Featherstone Center for the Arts is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year! As part of the celebration, 52 Island artists have contributed to the show “30 x 30,” which is showing through April 26. Then, on April 30, there will be a Silent Disco party at the Gallery from 7 to 9 pm with DJ Vincent Patricola.
Up next is my favorite: “Art of Flowers,” opening on May 3. Artists who want to participate can drop off their creations at Featherstone on April 27 and 28, from 10 am to 4 pm.
If you love our library, it’s time for Dine to Donate at Offshore Ale on Tuesday, April 28. With the coupon that you get from the library (either through email, or stop in and grab one) you can enjoy a delicious Offshore meal and 20 percent of all food sales will benefit the wonderful programs of the library. We are very lucky to have such a creative library staff, offering programs like the summer reading programs for all ages, arts and crafts every week, musical and dramatic programs, dance and fitness classes — all for free for all of us! So get out on the 28th, and there will also be a silent auction with amazing items and gift certificates.
Vineyard Montessori is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year; join to celebrate on Friday, May 8, at its annual “Big Night Out” party at the P.A. Club from 7 to 10 pm. This will be a FREE community event, with light bites, cash bar, dancing to DJ Smooth B, and a live auction. Bunches of balloons go to Melanie Rivers and Tabitha Clark on the 28th. They share the day with author Harper Lee. Beth Glynn and Elizabeth McMahon celebrate on the 29th. Happy birthday to Brian Ditchfield and Penny Wong on April 30! They share the day with Willie Nelson.
May birthdays begin with a shout-out to Michael Johnson on the 1st! Courtney Campbell celebrates on the 2nd, along with Megan Farrell and Amy Coffey.
