Jeffrey W. Traenkle, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on May
18, 2026. A proud Princeton graduate (1955) and naval aviator, he served his country with honor, and carried that same sense of dedication and integrity throughout his life.
Following his military service, Jeff enjoyed a lifelong career at Arthur D. Little in Cambridge, where he was respected for his professionalism, generosity, and steady character.
Jeff embraced life fully and enthusiastically. He loved tennis, golf, music, flying his plane, bridge, chess, and woodworking. An avid sports fan, he especially loved cheering for the Boston Bruins, and continued to hold out hope for the New York Giants. He was a longtime member of Longwood Cricket Club, East Chop Tennis Club, and East Chop Beach Club, where he formed many lasting friendships over the years.
Above all, Jeff will be remembered for his generous spirit, his devotion to family, and the example he set through a life well-lived. His presence brought strength, warmth, and joy to those around him, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carol, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Along with Carol, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy Reagan and her spouse Bob; his grandchildren, Tori and Sam Reagan, and Caitlyn, Olivia, and Wolfgang Traenkle; and many extended family members and friends who will miss his wisdom, kindness, quiet humor, and brilliance. He was predeceased by his son, Scott, and his grandchild, Jason Reagan.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American CancerSociety, online at donate.cancer.org, or to a charity of your choice in Jeff’s memory.
