Nobody was injured after a truck caught fire in West Tisbury on Tuesday night.

According to a West Tisbury Police report, first responders received a call at 8:54 pm of a vehicle engulfed in flames, a Ford F-150 parked in front of the Field Gallery on State Road.

Police closed off the State Road intersections on Music Street and Edgartown–West Tisbury Road while the fire was extinguished by West Tisbury firefighters.

Eversource was also called to the scene to assess nearby utility lines, and to determine whether electricity needed to be cut off.

The report states the truck belonged to Oak Bluffs resident Ricardo Carr, who told police he pulled over after experiencing engine troubles. Carr contacted the Dukes County Regional Emergency Communications Center after he saw flames in the engine compartment when he opened the hood.

“Carr and his passenger, Abbigayle Anglin, attempted to remove as much of their belongings from the truck before the fire engulfed the entire vehicle,” the report reads. “Carr had multiple tools inside the vehicle that suffered damage from the fire as well.”

The truck, which police say had “extensive damage” from the fire, was towed away by JWL Transport Tuesday night.
