To the Editor:

I am the outgoing chair of the board of ACE MV. ACE has a close partnership with MVRHS, and among ACE’s activities, board, staff, and friends volunteer to do mock job interviews with juniors as part of their career exploration junior seminar.

More than a week ago, I talked with three multilingual juniors. I can only say that these young women were each spectacular. I can’t vouch for their Portuguese, but their English was perfect, and they’re at ease with adults. They serve their community as volunteers, two at the Food Pantry. One is the secretary of the Honor Society; all had taken AP courses, and two said that math was their strongest subject and interest, though they love English too.

All three have college aspirations and great grades. One is the bookkeeper for her dad’s company; another assists in her mother’s tax preparation business, and the third has a responsible retail job. What a gift these young women are to our Island and to the U.S. Bravo to them, and to MVRHS and to their families, of course.
