To the Editor:
This letter has also been sent to Oak Bluffs’ zoning board of appeal and planning board.
Please deny the Green Villa development proposal. Despite our urgent need for affordable housing, the project is overly dense and large, especially located adjacent to Tackenash Knoll, which includes affordable and workforce housing. Those two developments will look like a downtown city block, especially as situated to the main road. The scope of the project exceeds assisting Islanders find housing. In addition, the development will destroy more of a small but intact forest that is currently absorbing nitrogen.
To quote Martha’s Vineyard Commission member Michael Kim, “The scars on our built environment and Island character will be permanent.” The architectural massing of this project affords nothing regarding spatial dynamics and aesthetic appeal.
