To the Editor:
Thank you for your coverage on Tisbury’s beautiful new pier at Owen Park (“Ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates reconstruction of Owen Park Pier,” June 10). As the chair of the Tisbury Community Preservation committee, I would like to point out an important omission in your article.
It was Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding that provided the seed money ($250,000) over the years 2019, 2020, and 2025, that in turn led to the town of Tisbury receiving the $1,000,000 Seaport Economic grant for the project.
As a committee, we are delighted that the CPA has the capacity to provide seed money that can lead to obtaining other funding sources, contributing to the success of such a large municipal project.
This is one of several ways the CPA helps, along with the voters of Tisbury, to support a safe, healthy, and diverse community.
The Community Preservation committee looks forward to continuing to help Tisbury’s goals with future projects.
Paul Munafo, chairman
Tisbury Community Preservation committee
