Sig Van Raan writes, “A drizzly early morning did not dampen an enthusiastic crowd of 30 or so who showed up to play. During the break between two games, a rousing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jason Balaban was sung by the players and fans. Then Jim Feiner officially opened up the season with his trombone version of ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame.’ Everyone sang along.
Clearing skies and occasional sunshine shone down on the second game, filled with great
plays and resounding hits by the sluggers, including the first Kerouac of the season, hit by Junior, and then again later in the game. Word has it the ball landed on Cuttyhunk. Of course, Ed Eger had his first Kerouac of the season in the usual right field, ON the Road. A great morning of old friends greeting each other — the usual assortment of kids and dogs and fans of the game. We’re definitely in midseason form.”
