To the Editor:
Promises made, promises kept.
In 2022, then-candidate for Cape and Islands District Attorney Rob Galibois made more than a dozen trips to the Vineyard to connect with Islanders from each of our towns. He promised he would hire an Islander to work in his Martha’s Vineyard office, he would advocate for a recovery court to open in Edgartown, and he would hire a woman to be his first assistant. After his election, he fulfilled those promises, and has accomplished so much more.
DA Galibois collaborated with Martha’s Vineyard Community Services and Children’s Cove to open an office on the Island where child victims could be forensically interviewed. He launched human trafficking trainings to promote awareness in the hospitality and transportation industries, as well as investigative techniques for law enforcement partners. He has made protecting our elder community from fraud and abuse a top priority. He has aggressively pursued pretrial detention of serious drug traffickers as a means of protecting public safety. Because of his leadership, we have seen a dramatic decrease in fentanyl overdoses in our district.
DA Galibois has proven he will be present for Vineyarders. He has earned our support.
