Recently I attended a wonderful celebration for Dr. Timothy Guiney.
He brought cardiac care to the Island, and his practice extended from Massachusetts General Hospital to the Vineyard. He was not only your cardiologist, but a friend.
Dr. Guiney and Dr. Russell Hoxsie created an intensive care unit in our small cottage hospital.
I came home in 1974 and worked that summer in that unit. This was the second summer I worked in the unit, and provided high quality of care.
That year we moved to a new hospital with a four-bed, up-to-date intensive care unit.
I will always be grateful to have known Dr. Guiney as a friend and a fellow professional.
