Back Door Donuts, one of the Island’s favorite bakeries, known for its fresh doughnuts and late-night lines, has been named No. 4 Best Donut Shop in the country in the 2026 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The annual awards honor top locations, restaurants, and attractions nationwide. A panel of industry experts chooses nominees, and winners are chosen by a public vote. Back Door Donuts placed No. 5 in 2025.
Back Door Donuts has been a fixture on the Island since the late 1940s, serving customers through its signature back door since 1971. The shop draws crowds of locals and visitors alike for late-night apple fritters, jelly doughnuts, and other classics, with guests often forming a long line for their favorites.
