On the rain-filled morning of July 7, 2026, as the clock struck noon, Cal Howard of Oak Bluffs peacefully entered larger life, surrounded by his loving family. He was 68.
Everything that Cal was lives on in his children as a legacy of love, loyalty, devotion, generosity, and integrity. He was a hero, and will be remembered by all who knew him as a man who could — and did — make everything possible.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Howard; his daughter, Maggie Howard of Vermont; and his son, Calhoun J.B. Howard of Oak Bluffs. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Johnson Howard, sisters Craigin Howard Salsgiver and her husband, Jim; and Susan Blair Howard; six beautiful nieces; and many extended family members and dear friends. Cal was predeceased by his father, Calhoun Ludlow Harper Howard.
