Camp Jabberwocky, a sleepaway camp for people with disabilities in Vineyard Haven, was honored at the Massachusetts State House Tuesday with a Mass Save Impact Award for their recent sustainability initiatives.

This year, 17 groups across the state received the award. Recipients also included Gordon College in Wenham, Lowell General Hospital, and the city of Fall River.

Mass Save is a state initiative that assists individuals, businesses, and communities with energy-efficiency projects through education, training, and installation services. The initiative is a partnership between electric, natural gas, and other energy providers in the state.

For Camp Jabberwocky, energy projects, which totaled roughly $50,000, included upgrading and installing mini-split systems and insulation inside two of the camp’s buildings, as well as LED bulbs, which require less energy for the same amount of lighting as incandescent bulbs, in its studio space.
