A problem with a breaker connected to the steering system of the Steamship Authority’s largest ferry, the Island Home, delayed the vessel by 45 minutes Wednesday morning on the 6 am run, according to SSA spokesman Sean Driscoll. Driscoll said the vessel wasn’t underway.
“It wasn’t in motion,” he said. “It was at the dock.”
Subsequent crossings were also delayed as a result of the early morning problems.
The Island Home was sidelined twice in March for a similar issue.
The Island Home also suffered a similar problem in 2018, when it along with the MV Martha’s Vineyard suffered a host of mechanical problems.
