Did someone say something about in like a lion or lamb? Today as I write this on February 28 it is certainly lion-like weather. And here I had just been counting and admiring the green shoots of crocus and daffodils that were poking through the soil. Can spring really be on its way? So far we have had rain, wind, and gusts that threaten to blow down the house. But this is New England, and the lions of today might turn into lambs on March 1.

Sincere condolences to the family of Joy Flanders, a former teacher at the Oak Bluffs School as well as the MVRHS. I met Joy when she first worked at Oak Bluffs, and what a marvelous woman and teacher she was. Her smile and optimistic attitude were contagious, and she bought smiling light to wherever she was. We are so very sorry.

We send speedy get well wishes to former Oak Bluffs Town Treasurer Patricia Costa as she recovers from recent surgery in Boston. We hope to see her walking along doing errands in downtown Oak Bluffs soon.

Kerry and Pat Alley returned this week from a vacation in sunny California. They joined their daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jack Lavolette, in San Luis Obispo where the Lavolettes and their children Alley, Logan and Jake were staying as part of a house exchange they participated in. While there, they enjoyed trips to Pismo Beach, the Hearst Castle and a drive on the Big Sur where they saw much lovely scenery and many beautiful mountains. They were fortunate enough to have excellent weather on their trip. I wonder what they would have considered the weather we had and are still having.

Birthday Smiles to Alison Ferreira and Amy Billings on March 4, Marguerite Cogliano on the 5th, and Vickie White on March 10.Enjoy your week.Peace.
