Back to school is just around the corner, but with this holiday weekend coming up, the summer fun can’t stop just yet.

This weekend, there are many events that will help you and your family take full advantage of the last bit of the summer vacation.

Friday:

Tastes of Tashmoo at Hines Point home beginning at 5:30 pm. With live music, silent auction and sunset over Vineyard Haven Harbor in the background, enjoy food and wine from various island restaurants.

Saturday:

The fourth annual Abstract Show at Louisa Gould Gallery is the last summer exhibit of the season. With the title, Vineyard Abstraction IV Rhythms and Blues, the show will feature artists Marsha Staiger, Sondra Arkin, Roberta Gross, Laura Roosevelt, Ellyn Weiss and Jeanne Campbell. Opening reception is on Saturday at 5 pm, and the exhibit will be on display through mid-September.

Also in Vineyard Haven, Bella will perform her last show of the season, Trouble in Paradise. She’ll set up a small stage under the Linden Tree on Main St., and sing her original songs and some that you might recognize from popular movies.

In the mood for some banjo? At Katharine Cornell Theater, Richie Stearns and special guests Willie Watson of Old Crow Medicine Show and Rosie Newton of the Pearly Drops and the Evil City String Band will perform beginning at 8 pm.

Sunday:

The 21st Martha’s Vineyard Oar and Paddle Regatta begins at 10 am at Little Bridge in Oak Bluffs. Bring your kayak, canoes or rowboats… This 2-mile race will end with a post-competition picnic, and all proceeds will go to the Friends of Sengekontacket.
