When people think about animated films, they may only list well-known Pixar or Disney movies that their children, cousins or nephews watch. Animations, however, aren’t just for kids.

Some animated short films provide deeper meaning and complex storylines, and “Animation Spectacular,” a collection of a wide variety of animated short films, showcases shorts designed for adults.

Behind those animations are filmmakers who brainstorm the plot, the characters and the setting. Sometimes the idea may come from the producer’s personal experiences. Sometimes it may be about everyone’s daily routine.

In the interview, Animators Bill Plympton, Joy Vaccese and James Bunan talk about their brainstorming processes and producing short films.
