Kudos MVFS
The Martha’s Vineyard Film Society was recently selected to receive a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The organization’s Challenge America Fast-Track program “supports projects from primarily small and mid-sized arts organizations that extend the reach of the arts to underserved audiences — those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability,” according to a press release.
NYE at Harbor View
The Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown has a full scheduled planned for New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
Festivities start with a three-course dinner, from 5 to 9 pm, in Henry’s, for $48/person (excluding tax and gratuity).
Tickets are on sale now for the New Year’s Eve Party and Fireworks show, starting at 9 pm. The 21+ evening, includes entertainment by The Sultans of Swing, DJ Ricky Prime, and DJ Di; hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and champagne toast; and fireworks at midnight. Tickets are $75 and are available at mvol.com; semi-formal attire is required.
Events continue at the hotel New Year’s Day with a brunch from 10 am to 2 pm, with entertainment from pianist Jeremy Berlin. Reservations are recommended by calling 508-627-3761. Brunch is $38/person.

Who will be next?
The West Tisbury Library is accepting nominations for the new West Tisbury Poet Laureate from Jan. 3 to Feb. 1, 2012. Nomination forms are available at the library, and the final appointment will be made in April 2012.
Big Holiday Bazaar
There’s still time to do holiday shopping, in particular at the Big Holiday Bazaar this Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Chilmark Community Center. From 9 am to 2 pm, shop for jewelry, antiques, books, stocking stuffers, and more. Chowder, baked goods, and warm drinks will keep shoppers refreshed.
