Visitors to mvtimes.com after 9 am tomorrow, December 30, will be invited to participate in an online survey asking about their experience of the site and the newspaper, as well as their information gathering habits. The survey has been commissioned by The Martha’s Vineyard Times.
Some Times readers participated in a companion telephone survey, conducted over several weeks in November, that focused in part on the readers’ experience of the print newspaper, as well as their use of the website.
“The purpose of the telephone survey was to help us better understand the needs, interests, and opinions of Island newspaper readers and web site visitors,” Peter Oberfest, The Times co-publisher, said this week. “We appreciate the time and thoughtfulness many of you contributed.
“To increase opportunities for participation, we’ve created an online survey to which we hope visitors to mvtimes.com will respond. As an inducement, there will be prizes.”
The link to the online questionnaire is http://www.pulseresearch.com/mvtimes. This link will take survey participants to a special site where the survey may be completed and submitted. The survey will be available for about six weeks, until February 10, 2012.
Pulse Research is a national market research firm, which developed, managed, and analyzed results from the telephone survey. Pulse will do the same for the online questionnaire.
“All completed surveys will be included and tabulated,” Mr. Oberfest explained, “and we’ll report back on survey highlights as we go along. Those who also provide names and email addresses will be entered in a drawing with chances to win a new iPod Touch or Shuffle.”
